About
In 2012, my wife and I were looking for a farm table for our home and after a lot of searching and researching, we couldn’t find the right one for the right price (for us). So I naively thought to myself, “I’ll just build one.” I literally had a drill and a table saw that had been passed on to me from a family member. So I went and bought some framing lumber, watched a number of YouTube videos and got to work. The table was not great, but it definitely served our needs. It’s still standing today and we are still using it on a regular basis!
I had so much fun building it though. Then some dear friends were looking for a similar style table but almost square. I agreed to build one for them and I posted it on Instagram.
The reaction from another friend was, “Are you building tables now?” to which I replied, “Sure!” - and Community Tables was born.
Many tables later, I have learned more than I knew was possible, and I keep learning every day! I am thrilled that I get to be a part of different families’ stories. Some of the tables may serve different purposes than others, but all are places of community. As I build each one, I do so with great joy because I know that I am having the chance to be a part of people’s future. I truly hope these tables will be a place of love, laughter and connection for years to come!
